3 Ways MMA Training Has Changed Since the Early UFC
Training for MMA has evolved very significantly since the early days of the UFC, including changing attitudes to training with gloves, wall fighting, and fighter conditioning. To discuss I'm joined by Denis Kang who started fighting MMA in 1998 in an event without gloves, then went on to have 55 matches in the UFC, PRIDE, DREAM, Impact FC, M-1 Global, K-1 HERO'S, ROAD FC, and Pancrase.

Did this collaboration really happen 12 years ago? Wow! I remember ordering this series when it came out. Great series!
You're guest needs to calm down and gather good thoughts. He was rambling and couldn't even explain it
Anything to say about the excess deaths still be experienced in 2024 or the apparently unknown origins of the disease? Or is that not your moral responsibility after you pushed all this...
What is this sweep called?
The king
That’s not a von flu choke it’s a variation of the punch choke
This and/or go to turtle
Great
Ko and rko and jey uso move
Great details
Starting on your knees in BJJ is bad practice
I have so many people telling me jui jitsu was developed in brazil, I know nothing but about that, but i am confident that it was a form of martial arts originating in Japan. Can someone tell me the history, or make a video of the history of Jiu-Jitsu.
lol
Hey Stephan, could you make a video about how to counter or prevent this sweep from happening? Rokas, a popular youtuber recently just suffered a terrible injury from his training partner preforming this move on him.
Wtf is wrong with the American healthcare system where doctors diagnose herniated discs without an MRI..? That shit is wild
I love your Steve
U have glasses. All out of sight.
I love the north south choke, it became one of my go to moves in the gym and as a white belt, I only now thought to look up if there are other moves from north south LMAO amazing video thank you
Star Trek vibes
How blind are you to need glasses while rolling lol Clark Kent over here
Cool, that is a great simple explanation of performing this technique. I was actually looking for what was the key to executing the pressure needed here. Couldn't be anymore efficient or effective.
Gold advice
Hello stephen I've been an avid watcher and fan for many years now. I haven't trained for 2 years as a result of a bad hip injury. I want to resume my training when I have my hip replacement. I only recently seen you have had yours done. How are you getting on are you able to still train and maybe spar. I need some positive news as I consider myself only temporarily sidelined. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Any one from viral hit? Lol
yup lol
Have to try thx
That sure wasn’t a glamping trip.
@4:30 If they are much heavier, then you will have to do many small bursts of small bumps and wiggles.
How are you now and are you training bjj cheers Stephan
Anderson Silva choked/submitted Dan Henderson like that in 2009. Probably for the exact reason you said: MMA gloves..
This seems like it was born, by someone who had no idea what they were doing, tried to do straight anktbut ended up weird and the guy tapped 🤣
1:35
lol you nearly went out😂😂
Ive been wanting to get back to training recently (kickboxing/bjj) but i already have brain damage and bad teeth. I figured i could just get a gladiator mouthpiece for rolling and skip sparring for the kickboxing and just do the drills and stuff but im unsure if this is a bad idea still. I dont want to risk my brain or teeth but its one of my big passions and i really want to get back into training
Hadn't rolled for a long while and had COMPLETELY forgotten about the s mount part, making all my arm bars fail. Thanks for the video
Two of my fave BJJ peeps in one instructional short?!? I’ve hit the jackpot!!
I started Jiu-Jitsu in 1995 and we trained in Vale-Tudo, Self-Defense and Competition.
Steve is so cool. It's kinda crazy to me how different him and Matt are... Almost like Nicky and Gordon...
I love these tabatas! Always about half way through I think "This was a mistake!"
That reminds me…I’ve not been to a gay biker bar for ages
The trophy scene had me dying laughing 😂
Awesome
Dude wearing glasses?
😂😂😂😂😂 winner by points. That is what turned me off of competition.
There are sub-only comps, but if you can mount someone for 4 minutes, pretty good chance you'd win, or at least not substantially lose, a fight.
Love the grip Tip!
So simple but super well explained. I always had problems forcing the second hand to strangle in that position. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video🤙🏽
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing, well explained 🙌
Thank you best chock I learnt today as I didn’t know how to do submissions from this position
2002 called and they want their BJJ instructionals back.
I haven’t heard an insult like this in years😂😂😂. “1996 called they want their phones back” or something Heard this in a regular show episode multiple times as well😂
1:55 Fart in armbar 😅
how do both these "black belts" have zero cauliflower ear
